Lower cost ion traps such as 220 MS and Saturn 2000 do not have either foreline gauges or high vacuum gages to montor high or low vacuum. For these instruments, a good indication of vacuum is turbo current. The idea is that the harder the turbo works (more current it draws) will be an indication of a leak. This is generally very accurate for spotting leaks
Model Spec
240/4000 <280 mAmp
Saturn 2000 <280 mAmp
220 MS <350 mAmp
225 MS <200 mAmp
The 220 has a different controller thena the Saturn 2000. The 225 has an IPS (integrated pumpling solution) and roughing pump is in closer proximity to the turbo.
